Engineering Manager
• Designed and implemented an industry-leading land survey data processing module for Terramodel® - a Windows application written using C++, C, COM, MFC, STL and Objective Toolkit.
• Managed a team of 4-8 local and remote developers and coordinated with QA and documentation teams.
• Leader of the UI review team and co-writer of the UI and coding standards documents.
• Single-handedly wrote the Terramodel.com web site, which uses a custom COM component to give encrypted update codes to the customer. These codes program the Terramodel® hardware locks.
• The company relocated family to Atlanta from England in 1998 after purchasing Blue Moon Systems. Have since received Permanent Resident Alien ("Green Card") status.

Founder
• Formed a vision that would alter the way ASP articles are published in the community, the ASPRSS standard.
• Led the community during the evolution of the standard, and wrote ASPRSS.com. Solely responsible for the marketing and implementation of the site.
• ASPRSS publishes source code in VBScript, JScript, VB.NET and C# that can be used to read and write an RSS XML file with ASPRSS extensions.

Founder
• Successfully designed, developed and implemented CoverYourASP to teach developers ASP. The entire site source code can be downloaded from http://CoverYourASP.com/CYA.asp.
CYA serves ~450,000 page views a month.
• The site is written in JScript with C++/ATL components. An Access database is used, although the site can use SQL Server and MySQL.
• Administer dedicated Windows 2000 server via Terminal Server.
• A new CoverYourASP.NET site is under construction.

• Led startup of company with a team of 3 developers that wrote a DOS 286-extended Land Survey application that became the UK industry leader.
• The application was written in C, using the PharLap 286 library.

• The same company passing through numerous merges and acquisitions, was responsible for developing surveying applications on HP 9000 systems, then for DOS using early Turbo C.

• Higher National Diploma in Land, Sea, Engineering Surveying and Mapping. (accepted as equivalent to Bachelor of Science during immigration process)
• Although ostensibly a surveying course, concentrated on computer science. Final project was to filter coastline data for inclusion in RAF Fighter Jets, using a Prime mini-computer and Fortran 77.
Training
• Attended numerous in-depth 3-5 day courses in subjects such as ASP.NET (hosted by ASPSmith.com), ASP, MFC, OOP and Stingray's Objective Toolkit.
Publication
• Wrote an article for asp.netPRO magazine in C# and VB.NET - read it at http://ShawThing.com/aspnetpro.htm
• Reviewed articles for Wrox Publishing for technical accuracy.

• Invited to join the ASP Elite in March 2001 - a private list of experts helping others with ASP. Many benefits including getting to know the Microsoft .NET team and leading ASP site owners.
• Invited to spend 4 days with the Microsoft .NET development team leaders in Redmond - only 40 ASP Elite attended this unique event.
• CoverYourASP was runner-up in the ASP Guild's 2001 Best ASP Help Site award (in it's first year).
