| This is the day I started undoing all my hard work to date! I had to completely cut out the contour that runs from the old headlight, and move it outboard to where the new main headlight would be. Remember, I replaced one light with two! Incidentally, the new lights are the same as used in Sniper - Troy Trepanier's ultra cool car. I did mine first though! You can see below the shaded area of the fender that I had to cut out to move the headlight over. click on any picture to see full size... So, one last look at before... ...and after the hacking, cussing, depression and finally relief. This is when the bar appeared to rest the lights on and allow me to keep the front end symmetrical - no small consideration! I taped a plastic bag over the lights and attached some chicken wire to either side of the hole with my glue gun. I then used some builder's foam filler to start building up a new shape. I found the best tool for shaping this was a Stanley (handyman) knife with one of the optional (and very flexible) 8 inch saw blades. Then I added filler, some more filler, and then...some more filler. Really cheap stuff first, then better filler suitable for the final sanding. The main sections of the fender and the grill had seen a good few hours of attention between these two photo's. Notice that I'd added a fender lip so that I could actually turn the wheels. | ||
